Sunday, February 26th 2pm $10 per person Reservations Required: HeritageLib.org _____ Native New Yorker Jim Jordan spent his professional career working as a financial analyst and financial systems consultant. He has lived on Callawassie Island since 1995. In 2001 he began a second career as a tour guide in Savannah, Georgia, and soon turned to writing. His first book, Savannah Grey: A Tale of Antebellum Georgia, was nominated for the 2007 Michael Shaara Award for Excellence in Civil War fiction. He has just completed the sequel, Penny Savannah: A Tale of Civil War Georgia. His articles have been published in the Georgia Historical Quarterly and the Journal of Military History. His non-fiction book, The Slave-Trader’s Letter-Book: Charles Lamar, the Wanderer, and Other Tales of the Illegal Slave Trade, is scheduled to be published by the University of Georgia Press in the fall of 2017. Jim has lectured on the history of the colonial, antebellum, and Civil War South at historical societies and adult learning centers along the east coast.

Need a break? The Heritage Library is offering a FREE tour of Zion Chapel of Ease Cemetery on Wednesday, December 28 at 11:00 am. The cemetery is our only Revolutionary War site on Hilton Head Island, and the home of the Patriots and Planters. Bring your visitors out to get a breath of fresh air and a history lesson besides. No reservations are necessary. The cemetery is located on the corner of Mathews Drive and William Hilton Parkway across from Carrabba's Restaurant. The Heritage Library's Zion Cemetery & Baynard Mausoleum Preservation Project received a donation from the Sons of the American Revolution. This donation brings the total contributions thus far to over $125,000. Picture are Jim Robinson, Bailey Keeling, Paul Walter (from SAR), Linda Piekut, and Peter Cooper.
